What you need to apply

Diploma and transcript: officially translated and legalised. Which stamp you need depends on the state, not the university.

German certificate: TestDaF, DSH or Goethe C1 for most degree programmes taught in German.

Converted grade: your Bulgarian average becomes a German grade through the modified Bavarian formula.

Uni-assist or direct portal: some universities take applications directly, others only through uni-assist, which has its own fee and timeline.

What it costs to live there

Tuition is not your budget problem in Germany — rent is. A room in a shared flat runs from around 350 € in a smaller university town to well over 700 € in Munich, and it varies a lot by city. Health insurance for students is roughly 120 € a month. As an EU citizen you need no visa and no blocked account, and you may work alongside your studies without a permit — most students do.
